Whistlerites in motion: Bennett, Astle both land on the podium

Sea to Sky youth have also been distinguishing themselves in freeride, freestyle and biathlon

Welcome back to your recap of Sea to Sky athletes and their exploits at home and abroad. We've had a few breakthroughs at the professional level, but lately it's been all about the next generation.

Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC) product Emeline Bennett raced to Junior World Championships gold in ski cross.

Local mountain bike hero Georgia Astle sidewinded her way to silver at Crankworx Rotorua.

The Sea to Sky Biathlon Bears won two medals at the U13 BC Championships.

Maia Schinghammer, Jesscia Linton and Sam Cordell, all Freestyle Whistler alums, each took home hardware at the Canadian National Moguls Championships.

Nine youngsters from the Whistler Freeride Club reached the podium in Revelstoke, with Lukas Bennett and Josie Cooper prevailing above the rest.

Marielle Thompson helped Team Canada clinch it's 10th ski cross Nations Cup.

Joe Davies of Pemberton won an NCAA national title.

The Whistler Winterhawks lost 15 regular-season games and qualified for Provincials anyway.

Sea to Sky snowboarders locked up eight medals at the Canada Winter Games earlier this month, led by Amalia Pelchat with three.

Don't forget to keep up with what's going on at the Whistler Sliding Centre (WSC).
