Whistlerites in motion: Crawford, Alexander and Sharpe reach career milestones on the world stage

Your weekly recap of Sea to Sky athletes and their exploits around the world

It's been a historic week for Sea to Sky snow-sport athletes on the world stage. Here's a quick recap of their achievements, just in case you missed something.

Jack Crawford continues to blaze a trail for his sport in Canada with his super-G gold at the 2023 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. He is now the third Canadian man to win a world title in alpine skiing; the others are Erik Guay, who did it in 2017, and John Kucera, who pulled it off in 2009.

Three days later, fellow Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC) athlete Cameron Alexander raced to downhill bronze in the first World Championships event of his career.

Meanwhile, freestyle snowboard veteran Darcy Sharpe won the first World Cup gold medal of his career in slopestyle. The Whistler-based Olympian also owns another World Cup victory from 2015 in big air.

Outside the snow-sports realm, Pembertonian Trinity Ellis and Whistlerite Embyr-Lee Susko finished 15th and 17th respectively on the luge circuit. Susko, 18, was making her senior World Cup debut.
