The Canadian ski cross team has been on a bit of a tear since the start of the new year with three World Cup events over eight days, starting on Jan. 7.

The last of the three was at Les Contamines, France on Jan. 15. It was a tough day for the team overall, but once again showed the depth of the program with a podium by Nick Zoricic — his first medal since January of 2011.

"I feel relieved, to be honest," he said. "Today it could have been worse. It could have gone better, but it's nice to kind of stop the bleeding and remind myself that I belong and that I can do this.

"Given the position I had and where I was in the final, I should have been able to close it out. But all in all, it's fine. If you told me at the beginning of the day I would be third, I would have taken it."

Zoricic held the lead at one point, but a late passing move by Alex Fiva of Switzerland and Didrik Juell of Norway. Jonas Devouassoux of France was fourth.

Zoricic was the only Canadian to make it past the quarterfinal. Chris DelBosco finished his day in 11th, Brady Leman was 14th, Whistler's Stan Rey was 26th and Tristan Tafel was 32nd.

Leman was sitting on top of the rankings before the event, with Fiva taking over the top spot.

On the women's side, Whistler's Marielle Thompson followed up on her two podiums with an eighth place finish.

The win went to Sanna Luedi of Switzerland, followed by Alizee Baron and Ophelie David of France.

Kelsey Serwa is officially out for the rest of the season after tearing her ACL week, and will undergo surgery, she confirmed on her Twitter account this week.

She will join teammates Julia Murray and Ashleigh McIvor on the sidelines, also out with knee and ligament injuries. Murray will not return until the start of the 2012-2013 season, while McIvor has indicated that she could be cleared to race this season.
