For many in Whistler, each winter day is reason enough to celebrate skiing. But thanks to Alpine Canada, the sport is getting the official treatment this Saturday, Dec. 6, which is being hailed as the first ever National Ski Day.

The day is meant to engage Canadians — whether beginners or seasoned skiers — to get involved with the sport. Alpine Canada has partnered with three resorts within 90 minutes of a major city to offer discount skiing: Cypress Mountain in Vancouver, Nakiska Mountain Resort outside of Calgary and Blue Mountain near Collingwood, Ont. Lift tickets are just $10 with a voucher, available for print at www.alpinecanada.org/nationalskiday. Vouchers are not available on site.
