Whistler’s Aussie ex-pats will be among those featured on Australia’s Today Show, which will be broadcasting its message live from the resort to an estimated 1 million viewers down under on May 7.

The show will take place form the Sightlines Bridge in front of the Brewhouse from 2-4 p.m. and, according to Tourism Whistler, the event will have an equivalent advertising value of around $700,000 for the resort.

The Today Show is a live morning news and current affairs production which airs on the Nine network in Australia. The Whistler broadcast will incorporate shots of the resort and several interviews, including ones with Whistler bear researcher Michael Allen, World Freestyle Skiing aerials champ Jacqui Copper, Ross Rebagliati and Steve Podborski.

Tourism Whistler worked in partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission and Tourism B.C. to secure the on-location television production. The Today Show will also be broadcasting live in other Canadian locales from May 6 through 10. Other shoot locations include Victoria, Vancouver, Banff and Calgary.

The Today Show will include about 64 minutes of coverage on Canada and the various shoot locations into each of the five show. This has an estimated value of $3.5 million in equivalent advertising rates.
