Travel Advisory: Variable avalanches conditions changing from frozen snow in the morning to melted snow with loose wet avalanches possible in the afternoon will be the pattern through spring. Cornices are still very large and long hot spring days are likely to cause them to fall. Some wet avalanche activity has managed to dig deep down to the December crust.
Avalanche Activity: Loose wet natural avalanches will continue to run on a regular basis from alpine start zones as warm sunny days weaken the snowpack. Isolated large avalanches will remain a potential threat until rocky start zones melt out.
Snowpack: Surface crusts over a mostly wet snowpack with areas of buried old facets and crusts will slowly begin to rot away now that spring has begun to show its face in our area. Occasional low pressure systems are likely to deposit light amounts of new snow into alpine start zones creating the potential for fresh surface activity.
Weather: Sunny and warm conditions are expected for the remainder of the week as a ridge of high pressure establishes over our area. A weak front may try to push into our region on Sunday.
