Bear Paws a success

Map Explorers right around the corner

On Sunday, July 11 the Whistler Museum and Archives held Bear Paws, the first workshop in its Summer Sundays program for youth and their families. Registration was filled to capacity.

"Michael Allen has a long-standing relationship with the Whistler community. He is respected for his knowledge of black bears and work with local schools," said Jimi Galvao, Programming Co-ordinator.

Allen instructed the group of eager and energetic participants in making plaster casts of real bear paws. Information about black bears was also shared and bear safety posters were handed out.

Many adults attended the workshop with their children and had just as much fun.

"Our Summer Sundays program is a great way for families to spend an afternoon," said Allegra Geller, Museum Assistant.

The next Summer Sunday is on July 25. Map Explorers with Martin Pardoe promises to be interesting and fun with an expedition of the Museum grounds and a map-making activity.

Pardoe is the Parks Planner for the Resort Municipality of Whistler and is known for his orienteering skills and expertise.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Call 604-932-2019 to register.
