Whistler-Blackcomb will be reviewing ski school procedure following a child’s fall off the Magic Chair on Blackcomb Monday, Jan. 10.

The seven-year-old Myrtle Philip elementary school student was participating in the school’s ski program. The child fell from the chairlift when the safety bar was raised early. The child was lucky to suffer only injuries to his wrist.

Whistler-Blackcomb said this type of accident is rare. Instructors generally use their own judgement in sending their young charges up with strangers in the lift line. The Myrtle Philip student was on the chair with one other child and an adult.
