Commuter service to sell more passes

20 more for sale

Sea to Sky Transit System has 20 extra commuter service passes for sale. Originally limited to 40 to ensure seats not be oversold, the $120 monthly passes will be sold at Whistler municipal hall starting next month.

"The bus has 40 seats with capacity of 55 with standing room," said Whistler staffer Emma Dalsant. "And now we’ve been watching the ridership patterns and see how people are riding on the different trips each day so we decided to put out an extra 20.

The commuter service began as a pilot program a year ago in response to public concern about highway safety for those commuting between Squamish and Whistler. The monthly passes include a blend of public transit service, subsidized Greyhound tickets and an emergency ride home program. The program, which runs 13 buses from November through April, is funded by district of Squamish and resort municipality of Whistler.
