The Nita Lake Lodge in Creekside has been voted the number one resort in Canada by Condé Nast Traveler, in its recent Reader's Choice Awards released Oct. 20.

As if that wasn't enough, four more Whistler properties made the top-20 list.

The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler was No. 4, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler was No. 6, the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside was No. 16 and the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre was No. 20.

When asked what tipped the scales in favour of the Nita Lake Lodge of all the resorts across the country, Nancy Steward, marketing and communications manager, said the hotel team has been working hard to improve its customer services and the guest experience. There is, of course, the spectacular setting to consider too.

"I think one of the number one things would probably be our lakeside location as well," said Steward. "Guests really enjoy it, and combined with our service, we try to customize and personalize our service as much as possible, I think that definitely gets noticed by our guests."

This is the second big readers' choice award for Whistler in recent weeks. SKI Magazine readers voted Whistler the number one ski resort in North America this year.

Barrett Fisher, Tourism Whistler's president and CEO, weighed in on the Condé Nast results.

"These are impressive accolades for Whistler," she said. "On behalf of Tourism Whistler, I congratulate our members who have been recognized by the readers of this prestigious travel magazine.

"The team at Nita Lake Lodge, which not only topped the rankings in the number one spot on the list of the top-20 Canadian resorts, but also made the list of the top-100 hotels in the world, should be very proud of these accomplishments. In addition, the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside and the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre — all recognized on the top 20 Canadian Resorts list — are exceptional properties and it is not surprising that they stand out.

"Following on the heels of SKI Magazine's recent number one ranking of Whistler, these awards bode well for the resort and highlight the exceptional Whistler experience.

"Thank you to all of our members who continually go above and beyond to ensure that we are offering the most memorable experiences for our guests and delivering the absolute best in customer service."

More than 128,000 readers voted in the readers' choice survey, the largest independent poll of travel consumers' preferences.

"Condé Nast Traveler readers are discriminating world travellers and understand excellence in hotel service. Our entire teams is honoured to have received this amazing praise from Condé Nast readers," said Lloyd Daser, general manager of the Pan Pacific Whistler. "Our guests return to Pan Pacific Whistler year after year because of our genuinely friendly and welcoming associates. It is the team at the hotels who deserve the full recognition for this achievement."
