The dates for the ninth annual festival were announced last week.

A celebration of the end of the snow season, and the beginning of Whistler’s second season, the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival has evolved into a 10-day, 240 hour, 14,400 minute "blast of rock and awe", as described by the Vancouver Sun. The festival is filled with a raging myriad of free outdoor concerts, world-class sporting events, photography and film exposes, non-stop nightlife, and the best spring skiing and riding conditions on the planet.

A partial list of the festival’s events includes:

Daily: The Festival Mainstage will once again rock the base of Whistler everyday with over 30 bands scheduled to perform during the free DKNY/JEANS Outdoor Concert Series.

Nightly: The Kokanee Freeride Series is growing in 2004 to feature international DJs and rockin‚ bands in Whistler clubs every night of the Festival.

April 16-18: The Festival opens with a bang with the Ripzone Snowboard Invitational – superstar riders converging on Whistler for three days of snowboarding madness.

April 17: Back on the schedule for 2004 is Words & Stories, a new event at last year’s Festival where acclaimed writers came together to tell their stories of mountain culture, life and adventure.

April 19-23: New in ’04 is the Canadian Technical Skiing Championships. This exciting international competition includes groups, pair and individual events and qualifiers for the World Powder 8s.

April 20, 22: In their seventh year, the Exposure Pro Photography events continue the tradition of launching the careers of emerging action sports photographers and celebrating the work of legends.

April 21: In its short two-year existence, the Filmmaker Showdown has become one of the most sought after tickets at the festival and continues to explode in 2004.

April 23-25: The World Skiing Invitational will again close the festival, celebrating the end of the competitive season with its renowned night-time Salomon Big Air – Whistler’s self-proclaimed "party of the year."
