No fill has been dumped in Green Lake by the owner of an Emerald Estates lot, and conservation officers have not asked that any of the material placed on the lot be removed.
A story in the Aug. 16 edition of Pique Newsmagazine suggested that Don Wensley, owner of the property at 9253 Lakeshore Drive, had been dumping fill in Green Lake to expand the lot. That is not the case.
Wensley bought the lot approximately two years ago, and then purchased a piece of crown land at the lake-end of the property that was not previously part of the lot. The crown land is listed on a surveyor’s map as "rocky soil, heavy brush."
Wensley did add clean fill – blast rock – to the lot but all the fill remained within the property and did not go into Green Lake.
Wensley said he wants to be a good neighbour and has no animosity toward area residents who contacted conservation officers about the fill.
Pique reported that conservation officers halted the loading of fill under Section 9 of the provincial Water Act because no approval had been given to put fill on the site.
No further work has been done on the site since the stop work order.
