Hostel gets hospitable The Whistler Hostel is getting its glad rags on for its annual champagne open house, on Sunday July 26. The hostel, which is celebrating 26 years, is right on Alta Lake and will be hosting a corn roast and barbecue between 1 and 5 p.m. There will a keg on hand as well as live entertainment and all those barbecue games, like bocce ball, horseshoes and the water balloon toss. The cost of the barbecue is $7 and you can buy a ticket when you swing by on Sunday. The event is designed as a fun day out and all locals and visitors are welcome to attend. Hostel manager Lori Harris says it is a beautiful spot. "We're right down by the lake so people can bring the kids out too... It's been great this summer, there's families of ducks, bear action and humming birds... I got sucked in here, I'm never leaving."
