Ballooning costs for Whistler’s sewage treatment plant upgrade may benefit from $102 million in federal infrastructure funding for B.C. small towns, B.C.'s Ministry of Economic Development announced June 21.
Over half of the funding dollars will go toward “green” projects to help rural communities in dealing with drinking water and wastewater concerns and also to support public transit and environmental energy improvements. Funding will also be available for road upgrades, culture, tourism, recreation and connectivity projects. The program is design to assist towns and villages under 250,000.
Details on applying for funding are not yet available for the agreement between provincial Ministry of Economic Development, Infrastructure Canada and Union of B.C. Municipalities
