Library benefits from annual wine tasting festival

Whistler Public Library

For the past 13 years the Whistler Public Library in partnership with International Cellars Inc. and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler has been organizing an international wine tasting festival. This is a great opportunity to socialize and relax with your friends all the while tasting great wines from around the world.

Featured wines at this year’s festival include: Barramundi, Evans and Tate, Peter Lehmann, Suckfizzle and Wirra Wirra from Australia; Gehringer Bros. and Summerhill Estate from B.C.; Wente, Ravenswood, Ironstone from California; Undurraga from Chile; Louis Jadot from France; Bersano, Carpineto, Mezzacorona, San Orsola from Italy; Quinta do Noval from Portugal; Segura Viudas, Martinez Bujanda, Vinas del Vero from Spain.

The Wine Tasting takes place on Tuesday, May 13 th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Tickets are $30 each and are available at the library or at the door.

As well as enjoying a pleasurable evening of wine tasting, you can also win any number of wonderful prizes from our ever popular "Buy a page" program. You can buy one ticket for $5 and then pick a page number from a "special" book. If the page you select has a prize listed, you receive it right away. No waiting! And you can try your luck again for another prize.

You can also bid on the great items in our silent auction – many are gift certificates from local restaurants such as Quattro, La Rúa, and Milestone’s.

The proceeds from the wine tasting will be used to purchase new books, videos, DVDs, and compact discs for the library’s collection. We always buy some new books on wines and wine tasting as well.

The following are just some of the titles the library has on wine and wine making:
