Two Whistler companies have won a second award for their design of a local home.
Kyber Developments Ltd. and Resort Plan International Inc. were recognized for Best Single home Over 2, 200 Square Feet at the Canadian Home Builders Association National SAM Awards.
"We chose a design that would conform to resort community planning goals and endure the harsh climatic conditions," says Michael Gottschalk, owner of RPI.
"Steep roof pitches, prow gable ends, numerous dormers and large overhangs create a complex and interesting roofline as well as provide efficient placement of snow shedding from the roof. In addition, careful consideration was given to the positioning of windows, skylights and patio doors to maximize light and view corridors."
Local materials were used on both the interior and exterior, including basalt stone, cedar and fir posts, limestone and granite.
The house at 8132 Muirfield Lane also earned Kyber Developments and RPI a Golden Georgie in January.
