Parliament may be shut down a second year in a row, but MPs will apparently keep working.
John Weston, the MP for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky, will be hosting a town hall discussion with Senator Nancy Greene Raine and Minister of State for Sport Gary Lunn to get constituents' input on how to ensure the Olympics provide a "lasting, positive impact" for corridor and North Shore residents.
The politicians will be joined by Olympian Annamay Pierse and Paralympian Andrea Holmes for a discussion titled Post-Olympic Legacies - Economic and Health, which will take place in the atrium of Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver. The discussion runs from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Weston is promoting this event as an "important extension" of his 20:10 Leaders Parliamentary Fitness Initiative, which aims to see Members of Parliament take on healthy lifestyles in advance of the Games.
Everyone is invited to attend but a ticket is required. You can pick one up during office hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Weston's West Vancouver office, located at 21-285 17 th Street up until Jan. 8.
