In preparation for the fall influx of transient workers who often arrive with little more than a backpack, Whistlers Re-Use-It Centre is hosting a food bank drive for the month of September.
The "Dont feed bears feed people" campaign," will offer gently used teddy bears from $1 to $25. Donations of cash and food items will also be accepted at the Function Junction second-hand store.
The food bank is one program supported by Whistler Community Services Society and the Re-Use-It Centre. The food bank is located at the base of Lorimer Road and is open every first and third Monday of the month, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Re-Use-It Centre sells furniture, art, clothing, household and sporting goods. Proceeds from the secular store go to fund 25 different social services programs in the Whistler area.
