Taluswood condo looted
The Whistler RCMP are investigating a recent burglary in Taluswood from a rental condominium. Police report roughly $20,000 in various items, including two TVs, a stereo, a king size mattress, linen, sofas and a dining room table, were taken from the unit. The suspects likely parked a vehicle in the double garage where they loaded up the items.
The condo company contacted the police on June 28. The furniture was last seen on June 16. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Kokanee goes missing
A local village bar owner called police last weekend to report eight missing kegs of Kokanee beer and an air compressor. The kegs were reported missing on Sunday, June 30 at 10 p.m. after the bar owner discovered his storage area had been broken into. The kegs were taken from a locked storage area outside the bar. The thieves broke into the storage area by cutting the chain. The RCMP are asking anyone with information about the theft to come forward.
Woman arrested carried taser
A 36-year-old Surrey woman is facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon after Whistler police found a high voltage taser on her last Saturday. Police had answered a complaint at a local nightclub just after 10 p.m. on Saturday where a drunken female was causing a disturbance. She was arrested for being drunk in a public place and police discovered the weapon after searching her. The woman will appear in a North Vancouver court facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
Lottery ticket scam
A 32-year-old Vancouver man is facing a charge of fraud after Whistler police discovered a lottery ticket scam. Police said the man was cutting tabs from lottery tickets and matching them on with other tickets to create winning tickets. Employees of two local nightclubs recognized the alterations and called the RCMP before any money was exchanged. The man will appear in a North Vancouver court facing a charge of fraud.
