RCMP arrest Squamish man in connection with vehicle thefts

On March 6 Squamish resident D.J. Russell was arrested by RCMP and subsequently charged with Theft Over $5,000 in relation to the theft of a Ford F350 truck from the Pemberton area in mid-January and the theft of a wallet. He is also facing three counts of using a stolen credit card.

Later two counts of Possession of Stolen Property were added in relation to a second F350 that was stolen in the Pemberton area in January and the theft of a Toyota truck from Whistler. He was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 for stolen auto parts and licence plates. A total of nine charges have been laid.

The RCMP held a bail hearing with a Judicial Justice of the Peace, seeking to keep Russell in custody until he appears in court. The request was denied, and Russell is currently in the community under a variety of conditions until his first court appearance on March 25 in North Vancouver.
