While thousands gather in the village to watch the Playstation Big Air on Saturday, April 21, the Whistler Astronomy Club will be craning their necks for another reason.
In honour of World Astronomy Day, the club will be hosting a public event at Rainbow Park from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., led by local astronomer John Nemy of the Pacific Observatory. Nemy won’t be able to bring his 25-inch telescope — the largest public telescope in Canada — to the event, but will make his 14-inch telescope available to view Saturn and the new moon.
The event is free, and all are welcome to drop by, and get a closer look at the night sky.
