What: SCREENING MAMMOGRAPHY PROGRAM This free service provided by the Ministry of Health will be offered to all eligible B.C. women ages 40 to 79 without a doctor’s referral. Women outside of this age group will also be accepted with a referral. Call 1-800-663-9203 for an appointment.

What: A CRUDE AWAKENING Take in the free 85 minute film that focuses on society’s addiction to oil and the consequences that may arise from it.

What:   GIANT USED BOOK SALE As usual, a huge selection of used books to choose from, including travel books, cook books, kids’ books and CDs. All books are sold by donation and proceeds go towards the Whistler Public Library.

What: OLYMPIC COUNTDOWN CELEBRATION More countdown cake, sports demos, meet-and-greets with Canada’s athletes and fun for the whole family can be expected to mark the 1000 day countdown to the opening of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

What: WHISTLER VALLEY TRAIL RUN Take part in the 16 th annual run that features a challenge for every member of the family. Tackle the 10 or 5 km run through Lost Lake trails, and the kids can participate in the 5 th annual Teddy Bear Trot. Register online at www.whistlervalleytrailrun.org . When: Sunday May 27, 9 a.m.
