What: SPARKS, BROWNIES AND GUIDES Whistler Girl Guides have moved to a new night of the week. Sparks (age 5 and 6), Brownies (age 7 and 8) and Guides (ages 9-12 are asked to meet Wednesdays at Spring Creek Community School, while Trex (ages 12-17 will meet on a biweekly basis, but date has yet to be determined.

When: Wednesday evenings starting September 17

What: PEMBERTON CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP All are welcome to worship alongside other Sea to Sky Christians as part of a service in Pemberton. It’s also a chance to come out and enjoy the new Pemberton Community Centre.

When: Sundays, 10:30 a.m.

What: FREE BELLY DANCE WORKSHOP LuLuLemon presents a free belly dance workshop, a form of dance handed down from the ancient Middle East to the prseent day. Bring water, because the shaking of hips can wear you out!

What: WHISTLER FORUM: WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP The Whistler Forum for Leadership and Dialogue presents Order of Canada recipient Barb Rae, a Whistler resident who will speak about women in leadership based on her professional experience. Cost for breakfast $25 per person, $100 for a table of five.

When: Thursday October 2, 7:30 a.m.

What: WHISTLER FORUM: LEARNING AND LEADING TOGETHER WITH FIRST NATIONS The Whistler Forum for Leadership and Dialogue presents Alfred Scow, an Order of Canada recipient and the first aboriginal graduate of the UBC Faculty of Law. He was also the first aboriginal person in Canada appointed as a judge. Cost for breakfast $25 per person, $100 for a table of five.

What: BARB ELYETT IN CONCERT Contemporary Christian recording artist Barb Eylett is a speaker and award-winning songwriter who has made a name for herself in Canada’s Christian music scene. She has shared stages with Celine Dion, Michael Buble and Checo Tohomaso. $5 minimum donation suggested.

When: Friday October 3, 7:30 p.m.

What: JAZZ VESPERS (IN THE MORNIN’) The Whistler Village Church presents jazz in rhythm with the Christian story. This one features Whistler pianist Cameron Chu, as well as the Rev. Dr. Gordon Turner, dubbed “Vancouver’s jazz priest”!

What: OLIVE TREE CIRCUS FUNDRAISER Local activist Sara Jennings is raising funds for a trip to Palestine with the Olive Tree Circus, a troupe made up of nine adults and two children. It’s a group that includes Palestinians, Jews, Christians, Americans and Canadians.

When: Thursday October 9, 7 p.m.

Where: #45 Building L, Eagle Ridge Drive in Whistler Cay Heights

What: BC 150 CELEBRATION SCAVENGER HUNT The Whistler Public Library is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the province of British Columbia. A family scavenger hunt will kick off the event, followed by a lecture from noted historian Jean Barman.

When: Thursday October 9, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

What: GIANT USED BOOK SALE Drop off book donations of any kind at Nester’s Market, TD Canada Trust, Whistler Public Library or Spring Creek Community School. Proceeds split between libraries at Whistler Secondary, Spring Creek and Myrtle Philip.

When: Saturday October 11, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Where: In front of IGA in the Whistler Marketplace
