What: WINTERPRIDE The Olympics aren't the only event that's hitting Whistler this year. Succeeding the Games is WinterPRIDE, an annual event that will include activities around culinary interests, health and wellness, spa and education, as well as the fifth annual International Mr. Gay Competition.

When: Monday March 1 to Monday March 8

Where: Various locations throughout Whistler

 

What: PEMBERTON GATEWAY VILLAGE GRAND OPENING Pemberton Gateway Village is one of the town's newest developments. In construction for years, it's finally ready to open its doors. Come check out its suites, each with a full kitchen, secure underground parking and other amenities.

When: Saturday March 6, noon to evening

Where: 7330 Crabapple Court, Pemberton

 

What: WHISTLER NATURALISTS MONTHLY BIRD WALK The Whistler Naturalists host their monthly bird walk, a way to account what kinds of flying species we have fluttering about the Sea to Sky region. See robins, finches, warblers and snipes. Bring binoculars to get a closer look.

When: Saturday March 6, 8 a.m.

Where: Meeting on the Valley Trail, foot of Lorimer Road to walk to Rainbow Park

 

What: WINTER PARALYMPIC GAMES The Olympic excitement isn't over yet. Still to come are the world's Paralympians, fighting it out in an event that's meant to run parallel to the Games. Nightly medal presentations and victory ceremonies will celebrate winners of Alpine and Nordic events.

When: Friday March 12 to Sunday March 21

What: A WINEMAKER APRES Whistler Blackcomb presents a Winemakers Apres Series with a chance to sample a menu inspired by Steeps British Columbia. At this instalment you can enjoy Inniskillin with winemaker Sandor Mayer. Tickets begin at $59, taxes and gratuity not included.

When: Wednesday March 17, beginning at 2 p.m.

Where: Steeps Grill and Wine Bar

 

What: "CONSUMING KIDS" FILM SCREENING Cedar Valley School presents a film screening of Consuming Kids, a critically acclaimed documentary about a marketing machine that's selling kids things like junk food and violent video games. It will change the way you think about modern kids.

When: Wednesday March 24, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Squamish Adventure Centre

 

What: TELUS WORLD SKI AND SNOWBOARD FESTIVAL Yes, regrettably there's another party coming. It's a 10-day-and-night showcase of progressions in the skiing and snowboarding world with arts and music events pumped full of adrenaline. It's Canada's largest free outdoor concert series. More details to come.
