Girl power will have an outlet this weekend as Whistler-Blackcomb plays host to the first of two Queen of The Rail events on the calendar this season.
The event is for women only, both skiers and snowboarders, with adult and youth categories and will run like a King of the Rail contest $5 to enter with a Night Moves ticket, athletes vote for the winner, and all participants are eligible to win draw prizes from Atomic, Nintendo and Sprite.
The Queen of the Rail takes part this Saturday, Jan. 21, at the base of Blackcomb. Registration is from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Blackcomb Daylodge Ski School Sales desk, and the contest will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with an open jam format. Helmets are mandatory and mouth guards strongly recommended.
The winners will receive a share of the entry fees, as well as the Queen of the Rails crown.
Crossers to go Atomic
The first of two Atomic Ski and Snowboard Supercross events will take place this weekend, with training and qualifying runs on Saturday and the races on Sunday.

You can also register on the day of the competition for a $5 surchage from 8:45-9:45 a.m. in the Rendezvous. Helmets are mandatory, and armour and mouth guards are recommended.
The cost is $30 to take part, and all participants are eligible to win draw prizes. A pair of Atomic skis and an Atomic snowboard will be given away at both Supercross events.
