Tim Hortons has confirmed that one of its employees at its restaurant located at 38930 Progress Way, tested positive for COVID-19.

The restaurant is currently closed.

"The health and safety of guests and team members has been our top priority throughout the pandemic," reads a statement from the Tim Hortons media team to The Squamish Chief. “We wish the employee a full recovery.”

This restaurant location is not listed on the Vancouver Coastal Health site for public exposure risk.

The BC Centre for Disease Control states that COVID-19 doesn't appear to be transmitted by eating food contaminated with the virus, however, it is important to wash your hands before preparing or eating food.

More information can be found here.

"Following public health guidelines, team members who worked closely with this person are self-isolating for 14 days and will be supported through Tim Hortons corporate and restaurant owner COVID-19 compensation fund to make up for any lost wages,” reads the statement

The restaurant will remain closed until it can be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, and a separate crew of team members can be brought in.
