University professor to discuss Olympic bid

University of Toronto professor Helen Lenskyj, one of the foremost figures to look at the realities of Vancouver's 2010 Olympic Bid, is coming to Whistler on Friday, May 31.

University of Toronto professor Helen Lenskyj, one of the foremost figures to look at the realities of Vancouver's 2010 Olympic Bid, is coming to Whistler on Friday, May 31.

Brought by the Association of Whistler Residents for the Environment (AWARE), Lenskyj is speaking at the Delta Whistler Resort at 7:30 p.m.

She is the author of Inside the Olympic Industry: Power, Politics and Activism, published in 2000. She has also written The Best Olympics Ever? Social Impacts of Sydney 2000.

Before coming to Whistler, Lenskyj will be speaking at Simon Fraser University's downtown Harbour Centre Campus at a public meeting on the 2010 bid.

Doug Stackhouse of Tourism Whistler will also be speaking at the AWARE meeting. He will be talking about some of the "green" renovations that are planned for the Conference Centre.
