Whistler Community Services Society recently received a $5,000
grant from the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation to purchase fresh and
non-perishable food items for the Food Bank in Whistler.
Executive Director, Janet McDonald said: “This donation is very
gratefully received! It will go a long way in enabling us to replenish
non-perishable food stocks depleted over a busy fall season, as well as
allowing us to continue to offer fresh fruit, vegetables, milk, bread and eggs
to locals in need.”
The Food Bank generally serves between 1,300 and 1,500 singles
and families a year in Whistler. The late fall-early winter is generally when
demand is highest.
