WB Foundation helps WCSS keep on truckin’

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation recently gifted Whistler Community Services Society with $17,000 to put towards the purchase of a used cube van for the Re-Use-It Centre.

“The foundation continues to be extremely generous with our organization and our projects,” said administrator Lorna Van Straaten.

The van will be used to help the store pick up donations and do store deliveries for customers for $25 a trip.

“Without the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, the WCSS Re-Use-It Centre would not be able to offer this new service to the community,” said Van Straaten.

Individuals with good quality furniture donations (excluding couches and mattresses for health reasons) may book a pick-up for only $25. As well, the store will now be able to deliver larger items for customers for the same rate. The truck will also be used to keep the exterior of the store clear of broken or non-sellable donations.

As well as off-setting the operating costs of the truck, remaining proceeds to go fund the over 25 programs and services offered by WCSS.
