Whistler business owners recognized

Two Whistler businesses have been recognized for their activities. Davin Peterson, founder and owner of Base Technologies Ltd. was presented with a $5,000 prize by Scotiabank as part of its “Get Growing to a Million Challenge.

Two Whistler businesses have been recognized for their activities.

Davin Peterson, founder and owner of Base Technologies Ltd. was presented with a $5,000 prize by Scotiabank as part of its “Get Growing to a Million Challenge.” Peterson and his company are also eligible to win the national grand prize of $20,000 that will be presented later this month.

Peterson’s company operates the Base Wireless network in Whistler, which has over 90 hubs in the community and serves the commercial market. As well, they offer online e-commerce solutions to companies, including Showcase Snowboards.

Also, David Udow and Charles Steele of Ziptrek Ecotours were finalists in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneurs of the Year Awards in the Emerging Entrepreneur category, Pacific region. The awards presentation was in Vancouver earlier this month.

Whistler Brewing Company, which is moving operations back to town, was also nominated in the Turnaround Entrepreneur category.
