HERE'S A QUICK LOOK at what to expect at Tuesday's council meeting, kicking off at 5:30 p.m. at the Maury Young Arts Centre.

WHA EMPLOYER HOUSING NEEDS ASSESSMENT

The Whistler Housing Authority's (WHA) Marla Zucht will be on hand to present the organization's 2019 employer housing needs assessment results as well as an update on its 2020 corporate plan and budget.

Highlights from the 2019 housing needs assessment include a 2019 winter workforce of 16,100 full-time equivalent positions (projected to rise to 17,200 in winter 2020), with about 12,300, or 77 per cent, living in Whistler in winter 2019.

Just 64 per cent of Whistler businesses were able to achieve full staffing levels in the 2019 winter season, while 22 per cent of businesses now supply their own staff housing.

The corporate plan update, meanwhile, will touch on some highlights from 2019, which included completion of two new rental buildings and progression of a third, new eligibility criteria for WHA rental properties, progression of new enforcement and compliance mechanisms and more.

Q3 FINANCIAL REPORT

Council will also hear a presentation on the resort's 2019 third quarter financials from director of finance Carlee Price at the Jan. 7 meeting.

Nine months into the fiscal year operating revenues were at 92 per cent and expenditures 74 per cent of their annual budgeted amounts, according to a report to council.

Those figures compare to 92 and 73 per cent in the prior fiscal year, respectively.

Investment income for the first nine months of the fiscal year was $2,634,394 (unaudited)—100 per cent of the total budgeted investment income for the year.

Most of Whistler's investment income is allocated to reserves to fund future expenditures, though some gets allocated to operations throughout the year, according to the report.
