Three Whistler hotels have been named as some of the top hotels
in the world by Travel and Leisure magazine.
Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Four Seasons Resort Whistler and
Westin Resort and Spa were three of 25 Canadian hotels named to the prestigious
magazine’s list of the world’s top 500 hotels.
“It doesn’t get any better than this,” said Westin general
manager Trevor Graham in a news release. “It’s a testament of our dedication to
providing travellers a memorable stay.”
Travel and Leisure said the 419 all-suite Westin was memorable
for its “cozy residential atmosphere.”
Chateau Whistler GM Michael Kaile said it’s never old hat for
the 550-room hotel to receive accolades, which the magazine cited as being “a
peaceful location away from the hubbub of the village but still within walking
distance.”
“We just don’t take these things for granted,” said Kaile, who
has been with the Chateau two months. Kaile said he realized how wonderful the
hotel is recently while watching a family from Los Angeles at the hotel’s
sleigh ride and later at the fondue, two events for which it was cited in
Travel and Leisure.
“It kind of fulfilled, especially for the children, something
very special and very magical and it just struck a chord as some things do and
I thought this is fantastic that we do something which just seems to give so
much pleasure.”
The 273-room Four Seasons was also singled out by the magazine,
which named it “Whistler’s most luxurious property.”
Published in New York City, Travel and Leisure magazine has a circulation of almost one million readers. Its annual reader survey of the world’s top 500 hotels appears in the January issue.
