Whistler police looking for ‘suspicious male’ who grabbed woman on Valley Trail

Whistler RCMP is investigating a report of a “suspicious male” who allegedly followed a woman along the Valley Trail before grabbing her, police said in a release.

Investigators said that the woman heading towards Highway 99 from Village Gate Boulevard at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4 when she was approached by a man who “tried to engage in conversation suggesting that he knew her.” After ignoring the man, he continued following her, trying to make conversation, and at one point grabbed her arm. A group of bystanders intervened to assist the woman, prompting the man to flee the area.

The suspect is described as tall Caucasian man, between 40 and 50 years of age, with a high-pitched voiced. He was also walking with a small grey dog at the time.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone who may have noticed this incident, particularly the group of onlookers who assisted the woman, to contact the detachment at 604-932-3044, or Sea to Sky Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous. 

Intoxicated Surrey woman reportedly assaults, bites cop after skipping out on restaurant bill

A 32-year-old Surrey woman apparently didn’t get her fill this weekend at a village restaurant, reportedly assaulting and biting an officer attempting to arrest her after skipping out on the bill.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, Whistler RCMP was notified that two women had left a restaurant in the 4200 block of Mountain Square without paying their bill. When police arrived, they learned that the intoxicated patrons became aggressive with restaurant staff and bystanders after leaving the premises.

Police said one of the women “became combative with police, assaulting and biting” an officer before being taken into custody.

Both suspects were detained and held at the detachment until sober.
