I'm thinking of going down to Toad Hall and getting a bumper sticker printed: "Life is too short to watch M. Night Shyamalan movies.

The peak of summer brings "dog days" because Sirius, the dog star, peeks over the horizon at just before dawn after being hidden for most of the year. In winter, a.k.a. right now, the meaning of the phrase is a bit different.

The texts started coming in Saturday morning: " Bandersnatch WTF!!!" and " Holy f@ck, have you seen the new Black Mirror ?" And "A choose-your-own-adventure movie? Whaaaaaaaat?!!" And the hype is real.

Comic book superhero movies: sick of them yet? A lot of people are. Sure, there are those superhero movies that not everyone realized were based on comics ( Barb Wire , Tank Girl , The Crow , Judge Dredd , Hellboy , 300 , Mystery Men , etc.

Remember right after the last Super Bowl when Netflix dropped The Cloverfield Paradox ? Out of the blue a streaming platform suddenly premiered a tie-in flick (some call it a sequel) to a J.J. Abrams-produced franchise.

Look alive, kids—it's the best week of the year because the Whistler Film Festival is back and screens around town are lighting up.

This is a big weekend. It's the start of ski season in a ski town, and even though the snow is a bit late (fear not; it's coming) Whistler stoke levels are high. And they should be—a lot can happen in a weekend.

Even without the recent election down south in Gilead, the state of affairs these days might lead one to think life is nothing more than a dark, nasty place ruled by the filthiest human tendencies—greed, ego, narcissism, fear.

Ski movies are not hard to make. These days, every 15-year-old kid has the skills and equipment needed to capture their buddies hucking and edit it to the beat of whatever song they're into.
